Schoolyard/Garden Committee

Research shows exposure to green space and the natural world has a positive impact on children’s physical and mental well-being. Help us create a space that allows our children to thrive! This group is focusing in beautification and maintenance of the green space surrounding the school. Including:

• Facilitate the building of an outdoor classroom environment

• Landscape the York Street garden

• Develop and maintain garden beds

• Maintain the surrounding tree pits

• Weed the asphalt and fence areas

• Collaborate with/and support teachers’ use of the garden space.

• Create educational event programs connected to nature and the environment

• Foster a sense of environmental stewardship among the Hackett community
